In 2023, Our Lady of the Rosary SVdP Conference completed 204 Home Visits, providing direct help to 255 neighbors in need. Through the Our Lady of the Rosary Conference and Home Visitors, over $40,000 in direct financial assistance was provided to help our neighbors remain housed.

At St. Vincent de Paul, we specialize in providing personalized assistance through our Home Visits. We prioritize helping individuals and families maintain stable housing situations. Through our personal approach, our Home Visitors gain a unique perspective that enables them to offer additional assistance that may be needed, like food or clothing and furniture vouchers.

Our primary focus is on preventing homelessness by providing direct assistance, including help with utility bills and rent when eviction is imminent. When individuals or families in need reach out to us through our Help Line, St. Vincent de Paul volunteers visit them in their homes to determine how we can best assist them.

    The Our Lady of the Rosary Conference of St. Vincent de Paul recently met a 76-year-old woman living in Southwest Boise who found herself in a difficult and unsettling situation. Her apartment, once a place of comfort, had developed serious environmental issues that began to take a toll on her health. With limited options, she faced the daunting prospect of moving—something that would be a challenge for anyone, especially for someone on a fixed income.

    The good news came when she was approved for Section 8 housing, a lifeline that offers affordable housing to low-income individuals. But even this blessing came with its challenges. The deposit costs were overwhelming for someone with a monthly income of just $1,529. Without help, the move that could improve her health and well-being seemed out of reach.

    That's when St. Vincent de Paul's Home Visitors stepped in. Understanding the urgency of her situation, they provided the financial support she needed, contributing to her deposit and making it possible for her to secure new housing. Her property manager accepted the donation, and she was no longer at risk of eviction.

    Now, thanks to the support of St. Vincent de Paul and the generosity of donors like you, this woman can move into a safe, healthy home without the fear of losing her housing. Her story is a powerful reminder of how even a small act of kindness can have a life-changing impact.
